OUR MISSION

The purpose of the Piney Woods School Alumni Association shall be to attract and engage Piney Woods School alumni to provide multi-level school support by serving current Piney Woods students and the alumni community; and by ensuring a visible, viable, vital organization that embraces the spirit of the Piney Woods School founder Laurence C. Jones.

WHO ARE WE

The Piney Woods School Alumni Association was founded in 1976 by former students Andrew Reeves, Bettye Jack and Paul Shack; and is recognized as a 501 (c) 3 by the Internal Revenue Service. The Association is led by a 10-person board and membership is composed of former students, parents, teachers and staff. The PWSAA serves as an unofficial ambassador for the school.

WHAT WE DO

The Piney Woods School Alumni Association supports current students though scholarships, activities and programs. As well as supports the school through participating in fundraising campaigns, service to the school and serving as an ambassador.

(BRIEF HISTORY)
The Piney Woods School is one of four remaining historically Black boarding schools in the United States. The school, founded in 1909 by Laurence C. Jones serves students from all across the United States and several African countries. The school boasts a 100% graduation rate with students accepted to some of the most prestigious colleges.
